HVAC industry veteran Arup Majumdar would join Bonphul Air Products as Executive Director (Business Development), starting the first week of December. Mr Majumdar has had extensive experience in the HVAC industry both as an engineer and manager. Passing out of IIT Kanpur with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988, he worked for 8 years as an Engineering Manager with United Technologies (the parent company of Carrier air conditioners) in both India and Malaysia. Thereafter he did an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and briefly joined Ernst & Young for a year. HVAC beckoned him again, and Mr Majumdar spent the next 12 years with Emerson Climate Technologies in Hong Kong, where his last role was as Director, Commercial A/C Business Asia Pacific. Thereafter, two smaller stints of 3 years and 1.5 years in France and China with different companies, and he came back to India in 2017 to join Daikin as General Manager.

At Bonphul, Arup Majumdar’s role would be (a) new business acquisition, (b) strategy & planning, and (c) public affairs.

New Business Acquisition

With his vast experience in the HVAC industry, Mr Majumdar would lead our commercial customer acquisition efforts. He would be our ambassador to CXOs and senior leaders in the HVAC and MEP industries.

Strategy & Planning

As Bonphul attempts to transition from a founder-led to a professionally-managed company, things like systems and processes–that provide stability and resilience to a company–become increasingly important. But before designing systems and processes, an organisation needs to do its strategy and planning. With his background in senior management of several top-notch companies, Arup Majumdar would provide us leadership in this aspect.

Public Affairs

From the day of its inception, Bonphul has attempted to reach out to various stakeholders connected to our work: industry, academia, media, etc., but the company could never give it the attention it deserved. With Mr Majumdar’s joining, Bonphul hopes to increase its public profile and get into a regular dialogue with all stakeholders.
