OxyMax FAQs

We know you must be having plenty of questions and curiosities about the OxyMax range of products. So here we have most of them covered for you. If we are still not answering any of your curiosity, please do let us know!

Medical grade Oxygen has 90% + concentration and Industrial level concentrators are even higher. The supply of this high-level Oxygen concentration is either through Oxygen Cylinders or through Industrial/Medical PSA generator. Oxymax concentrates Oxygen to sub 85 % level.

There are Industrial and medical-grade PSA plant suppliers. However, Bonphul is the first company to design/assemble/ manufacture PSA machines for residential and office use.

Bonphul identified Oxygen Deficiency as the key component of bad Indoor Air quality and decided to design a machine which is comparable to split AC outdoor unit in terms of dimensions and weight.

PSA is an open source technology, popularized by NASA for astronaut’s usage in Apollo space capsule.

A few decades back Outside Air and Fresh Air were synonymous. With the spurt of urbanization, falling of trees and millions of combustible engines running around, outside air is no longer Fresh Air. Outside Air consists of CO2, SO2, dust particles, PM [ 0.03 to 10], Allergens, Viruses, Bacteria, and is oxygen deficient.

Hence, it is no longer safe to get outside Air in the same form and fashion. It is now critically important/ crucial to treat the Outside Air before it is let in.

Oxygen deficiency in outdoor air is primarily associated with rapid urbanization, depleting green cover, and increased usage of combustible engines. This phenomenon is observed mostly in developing countries on a high growth trajectory.

Oxygen deficiency in indoor air is an indirect result of keeping indoors airtight because of air conditioning [AC only re-circulates the indoor air, and have no provision of taking outdoor air], and increased number of people in a closed environment. So, the deficiency of Oxygen is a localized problem for developing countries /geographies.

Other global issues drive most of the time the media attention. We do hope to see more media attention towards Oxygen deficiency in times to come.

A world report shows that per person tree density in India is only 28 and particularly in Delhi-NCR, it is as low as 0.3 trees per person, compared to Canada which is approximately 7000.

Per Hour – 96 Liters Per Day – 2310 Liters

Per Year – 843,150 Liters [0.84 Million Liters]

In an average lifetime [75 Years] – 63,236,250 Liters [63 .2 Million Liters]

Average human beings roughly take 23000 breaths per day. Average adult at rest inhales and exhales approximately 7 to 8 liters (about one-fourth of a cubic foot) of air per minute. That totals to around 11,000 liters of air (388 cubic feet) in a day. The air inhaled is about 21-percent oxygen, which means approximately 2310 liters of Oxygen per day.

If you are sitting in an Oxygen zone of 17% concentration, it means your intake of Oxygen is 1870 liters, a deficit of 440 liters of Oxygen.

Air exhaled is about 15-percent oxygen [provided you get air at 21 % oxygen], so about 5-percent of the volume of air is consumed in each breath and converted to carbon dioxide. Therefore, a human being uses about net 550 litres of pure oxygen (19 cubic feet) per day.

Oxygen is a natural resource generated through the process of photosynthesis, performed by the leaves in trees. This ecosystem of trees producing oxygen has been prevalent alongside throughout the human evolution. In modern times, due to population growth, urbanization, and use of combustible engines, there is heavy stress on the green cover which has resulted in depletion of oxygen level in the air.

Bonphul Oxymax product range is not disturbing the environment ecosystem, but only drawing the Oxygen from the outside air to provide you with enough Oxygen in your micro indoor environment.

Have you ever imagined why we start panting when we run? We must understand this, that our body has an automatic mechanism which tries to compensate for the lack of anything vital for life to go on.

For example, when we run fast, we start breathing faster, and our heartbeat also upsurge. It means our body needs more oxygen, so we start breathing faster and our heart also starts beating much faster to compensate for the higher demand. What would happen with reduced oxygen? Our lungs, heart, and brain are at higher work pressure. Our vital organs are working extra to compensate, resulting in a higher breath rate and higher heart rate, which is very dangerous for our health.

This is a WHO released matrix on oxygen levels and its effects.

However prolonged exposure to higher concentration [above 23%] should be done only under medical advice/supervision.

Living in the oxygenated air @ 21 % does not reduce any immunity. The effects of living in an oxygen deficit environment on our bodies, as we currently have in our metro cities, is like running a car on impure fuel.

On the contrary, OxyMax enhances our immunity and helps all body organs perform at an optimal level without unnecessarily straining them.

OxyMax is as safe as your LPG/PNG/ electricity line in the house. Oxygen does not burn in itself; however, it is an essential fuel in combustion.

OxyMax supplements oxygen in a closed environment in a safe, diluted manner. Oxygen is fed through thin fire-resistant PU tubes.

All hospitals in the world have oxygen supply through the pipes for the use of patients, and we have not come across any fire incident in hospital attributed to oxygen lines.

You are already in Oxygen Deficit Zone, so whatever harm had to happen to your body has already happened. When you run a machine without adequate fuel, the efficiency goes down, and there is an excessive strain on the machine. Our bodies are no different. We are straining our body, our lungs, heart, and our brain continuously by staying in an oxygen deficit environment. OxyMax provides you an oxygen-rich environment so that your body works in an optimized manner.

No, you will not fall sick when you go outdoors after using OxyMax because staying in an oxygen optimized environment improves your body’s immune system. So, if you have better immunity, you are better equipped to adapt to the changes in the environment.

The consumable in Bonphul OxyMax are:

• 2 sets inlet filter sitting on top of the compressor – replaceable every 3 months

• 1 set of cabinet filters – approximately 1 year

We replace inlet filters every 3 months, the dust filters get replaced after every year. In every service, we clean the outdoor and the indoor unit thoroughly.

Besides one-time purchase cost, there will be an additional cost of AMC and consumables. The AMC ranges from 10 -12 % of machine cost, and consumable over a period of 10 years will be approximately 40-50% of the machine value. Therefore, in approximately 7-8 years, you will pay approximately the cost of the machine.

If we benchmark the consumer level oxygen rates at Rs 100 per litre, you can recover the cost of 10 LPM in 24 hours flat. However, on the safe side, we can benchmark medical oxygen rates at Rs 0.5 per litre, then you will recover the cost in 20 days. A 10 LPM machine extracts 432,000 litres of Oxygen per month and 5,256,000 litres of oxygen in a year.

At a consumer level, Oxygen costs Rs 100 per litre, and at the commercial level, it costs Rs 0.5 per litre.

The Machine comes in multiple capacities:

• 10 LPM: Rs 1,62,400

• 20 LPM: Rs 2,80,000

Transport/Delivery/Installation/Site Preparation charges on actuals

We do a comprehensive onsite analysis and calculate the capacity requirements as per your space. We analyze the volumetric space, occupancy, desired usage pattern to suggest the best fit for your space.

• For 10 LPM unit: 625Watt 220VAC/50Hz

•For 20 LPM unit: 1250Watt 220VAC/50Hz

•For better understanding a One Ton Split AC consumes approximately 1200 Watt or 1.2 kW. A 1.5-ton split AC consumes approximately 2000 Watt or 2 KW.

Installation cost is a factor of site situation and placement of the outdoor /indoor unit. Typically, the following line items are to be considered:

•Delivery/Transportation Cost: variable (depending on delivery location)

• Site Preparation: Variable (depends on the site)

• Outdoor wall mounting Frame: included with the machine

• High-Pressure Tube for Outdoor: Rs 150 per Metre (first 5m of installation length is free)

• High-Pressure Tube for Indoor: Rs. 100 per Metre (the first 10m of installation length is free)

The maintenance cost of the machine during the warranty period is Rupees 0 (excluding consumables). Post warranty period, as per the industry standards the Annual Maintenance Charge will range between 11% – 14% of the total machine cost excluding taxes.

However, the customer has the choice of engaging us in per visit charges + the cost of spares.

Oxymax is an oxygen harvester machine. It feeds on outside air, extracts Oxygen from outside air, and then supplies Oxygen concentrated air through an indoor outlet to a room/cabin/office/home. It has an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, just like a split air conditioner.

Oxymax breathes for you: Oxymax outdoor unit machine is like a pair of mechanical lungs. Oxymax takes the brunt of polluted air for you, reducing the harmful gases, and releases oxygen concentrated air into an indoor air ambience. This air is free of dust particles, and PM.

The machine works on the 50+ years old PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology, which has been made popular by NASA. The technology used, provided oxygen to astronauts, in the Apollo spacecraft.

Bonphul Oxymax is engineered in such a manner that all parts are replaceable. However, certain parts like fan motors/compressor have a lifespan. We can safely assure that depending on justified use, Oxymax can last up to 8 years. During and post eight years, machine parts can be replaced ensuring longer life. We intend to keep spare parts for the machine for 10 years period to provide continuous usage.

As explained above, there are multiple sets of filters at various stages of Oxygen Optimizer, so our filters remove the dust particles and PM. The indoor machine provides you with clean and oxygenated air.

The Outdoor unit is similar in size to a 1.5/2-ton split AC outdoor unit. The indoor unit is the size of a 15-inch laptop screen with a 3-inch thickness.

Dimensions of the Outdoor units are mentioned on the brochure

•OxyMax 10: WxDxH: 25.5x14x24 inches (Weight: 45 kg)

•OxyMax 20: WxDxH: 35x14x24 inches (Weight: 65 kg)

•OxyMax 50: WxDxH: 54x24x72 inches (Weight: 400 kg)

Air purifier essentially is a dust filter. It only filters out the suspended dust and PM 2.5/10 particles from the air (some air purifiers control odour too). It does not work on the chemical /gaseous composition of the air. Bonphul OxyMax actively improves the composition of the air by adding oxygenated air to it. OxyMax optimizes the level of oxygen in indoors to 21%.

You can use the product 24 hours X 365 days. The best use scenario is at night when you are resting in your room. When you sleep, your body recharges itself. Having a healthier air at that time energizes you even more and you wake up feeling a lot fresher and energetic like you will if you are in a healthier environment of the mountains.

Yes, absolutely. To use the product whenever you are also using the AC is advisable. While using the AC, the room is closed, and there is no outdoor air coming in with the oxygen levels going down with every breath. So OxyMax should be used to optimize the levels of oxygen in your room.

You should keep your doors closed to increase the efficiency of the machine. For example, while using an AC you keep the door closed to keep the cold air inside, similarly, keeping the door closed while using OxyMax will keep the Oxygenated air inside your room.

Oxygen is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. We breathe oxygen with every breath. You feel the real change by sleeping in the Oxygen Optimized room through the night. Most of our customers start feeling the change from the first night itself and some from the second or third night. The best measurement of Oxygen is that you wake up very fresh in the morning like you do in the hill stations. However, if you wish to know the efficiency of OxyMax, our engineer can come and help you measure the Oxygen Concentration from the machine.

As per our measurements at various locations at Delhi-NCR, outdoor air has Oxygen Levels up to 18% only. Moreover, indoor air has oxygen levels up to 17 % only.

A 12-meter tree weighing about 2 tonnes and significant girth generate approximately 260 pounds /118 KG/ 82,517 litres of Oxygen per year as per various reports. 1 litre of Oxygen weighs around 1.43 grams.

We do a comprehensive onsite analysis and calculate the capacity requirements as per your space. We analyze the volumetric space, occupancy, desired usage pattern to suggest the best fit for your space.

From various building designs, we understand that a 1000 SFT flat is 1 BHK, 1000- 1500 is 2BHK, and 1500 – 2200 is 3BHK, and above 2200 is 4 BHK. With consideration of carpet area reduction of 30 %, these spaces further get reduced. Within these spaces also, there are balconies/kitchen/bathrooms/ store rooms which may not require Oxygenation. So, a typical Bedroom size is in the range of 150 SFT to 250 SFT.

• 10 LPM unit is sufficient for 2000 Cubic Feet (L*B*H)

• 20 LPM unit is sufficient for up to 4500 Cubic Feet (L*B*H)

Like a Split AC, there is an outdoor unit and an indoor unit. A thin tube and a wire connect the outdoor and the indoor unit. The outdoor unit is installed exactly like the split AC’s outdoor unit. The indoor unit is a small box installed on a wall within arm’s reach.

There are multiple operational modes available depending on the requirement and on-site constraints.

• For 10 LPM unit: up to 2 units can be installed in two different rooms.

• For 20 LPM unit: up to 3 units can be installed in three different rooms.

The noise levels from the OxyMax are less than compared to a split air conditioner or even a ceiling fan running at full speed. The standard sound level of a split AC at 1.5 meters is 70dB, for a ceiling fan it is around 65dB. The sound level of the OxyMax system is less than 55dB.

At this juncture, OxyMax is not treating or neutralizing VoC. However, Bonphul has plans to integrate VoC neutralizers in the upcoming range of products.

There is are some test equipment available for measuring the oxygen levels. We will amply demonstrate to you at the time of installation and at the time of service. You are free to call our engineers anytime to check the oxygen level or you can buy your own oxygen test metre.

Human body and organs are genetically engineered to operate at 21 % Oxygen. If there is a slight increase in Oxygen levels, then up to 23.5% is considered safe. There are oxygen bars worldwide which provide highly concentrated oxygen for recreational purposes, and there is medical equipment like HBOT [ Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy] used in treating more than 16 ailments as per USFDA.

We will help you decide the right machine which is fit for your environment, but yes, the levels can go higher than 21 %, in case your room is airtight with no people are sitting in the room. In the machine, we have a smart mechanism to ensure that oxygen levels are optimized.

Besides smart mechanism to optimize the oxygen, right now we have no functionality available in the machine to switch it off entirely through an automatic process. Manually machine can be switched on and off.

At the time of the installation, the installation team carries an Oxy-meter that indicates the level of Oxygen in the air and the Level of output oxygen from Oxymax. If the customer wants to know levels of oxygen, he/she can call in our team at any time of his/her convenience for a free of cost quick oxygen level check.

Oxy-meter has a biosensor that has a life-span of approximately 1 year.   Currently, the functionality of measuring oxygen level comes at an additional annual cost of Rs. 22,500 (the price of the Oxy-meter). If the customer is interested, he/she can purchase an Oxy-meter.

Oxymax starts working the moment you switch on the machine. It keeps adding oxygen to the room and enriches the air the entire time. As we know, the outdoor air is at 18% oxygen and the indoor air even less, Oxymax first works on bringing the indoor air in the acceptable range (i.e., minimum 19.5%) and finally to the ideal 21%. The time to reach 21% depends on the size of the room, no. of people inside, ventilation rate, etc.

Say we have 1000 cubic ft room volume (10ft*10ft*10ft), empty sealed room. Then it will have 1000 cubic ft of air. Based on the data available, let’s assume the air has 18% concentration of oxygen. So, the volume of oxygen available in the room will be 180 cubic ft. To optimize the level of oxygen at 21%, we must add approximately 40 cubic ft of oxygen (accounting for an increased total air volume of the room).

1 cubic ft = 28.32 Litres

40 cubic ft = 40*28.32 = 1132.8L

Available machine capacities:

10 LPM or 600 LPH

20 LPM or 1200 LPH

Time taken by each machine to add 1132L of Oxygen (to optimize it to 21%) =

By 10 LPM machine: 1132/10 =113 minutes 20 seconds or 1 hour 53 minutes 20 seconds

By 20 LPM machine: 1132/20 = 57 minutes 10 seconds.
